The inset is worn over the Classic Chemise. The reversible-to-black inset provides a lift for your bosom and holds in your tummy. In medieval times, the inset might have been a complete dress extending to the floor. We chose to create this abbreviated design which just may have been the choice of our medieval ancestors. The inset is reversible and machine washable. The outer gown is then worn over the inset and chemise. It laces up the front ‘V,’ where the inset shows through. The forearms lace up to elbow for a snug fit and the upper parts of the sleeves have small elastic pieces for a comfortable fit. These pieces may be shortened with a safety pin or a quick stitch should your arms increase or decrease in size. This gown is worn with a Classic chemise designed to pouf through the slashes. Our childs breeches are similar to the adult breeches.A bit coservative for tights, are you? Made of 100% cotton, these breeches would have been worn by the peasant or working kids. They are long enough to wear with knee-high boots or wear the cuffs at the top of your calf with sandals. Elastic cuffs make them comfortable to wear as you caulk a ship or reap the harvest. A drawstring waistband allows one to feast and famine in them, or drink a lot of juice, if you like. Ours also have secret pockets hidden in the side seams.
